Progression Workbooks

A progression workbook is a topic focused workbook that moves through the Maths For Life levels showing the progressive building of the skill. These are useful when teaching a group of students that are working at different levels with the programme.


Topic 1

Progression Workbook Counting - This 126 page workbook looks at the progression of counting - the ability to count how many. It starts with the the Foundations Level and counting up to 10 items and progresses on to counting up to 1000 items at Level 3. [Eco Ink Version]


Progression Workbook Compare Numbers - This 86 page workbook looks at the progression of comparing numbers - the ability to apply the knowledge of order. It starts with the the Foundations Level and comparing numbers to 10 and progresses on to comparing numbers to 1000 items at Level 3. [Eco Ink Version]


Progression Workbook Ordinal Numbers - This 70 page workbook looks at the progression of ordinal numbers - the ability to understand the position of a number relative to another. It starts with the the Foundations Level and ordinal numbers 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and progresses on to ordinal numbers to 1st to 1000th at Level 3. [Eco Ink Version]


Progression Workbook Addition - This 95 page workbook looks at the progression of addition. It uses framed questions at each level starting at Foundations level adding numbers within 5 to Level 3 adding numbers within 1000. It uses examples at each level that move from the direct prompt of including the ‘+’ symbol, to the indirect prompt with the blank number sentence, ending with the independent ‘no clues’ question. Progression Workbook Subtraction - This 130 page workbook looks at the progression of subtraction. It uses framed questions at each level starting at Foundations level subtracting numbers within 5 to Level 3 subtracting numbers within 1000. It uses examples at each level that move from the direct prompt of including the ‘-’ symbol, to the indirect prompt with the blank number sentence, ending with the independent ‘no clues’ question. It cycles through the subtraction language of ‘how many left?’; ‘how many more?’'; and ‘find the difference’. There is a set of 22 templates at the end that can be used for any level. Progression Workbook Multiplication - This 196 page workbook looks at the progression of multiplication. It uses framed questions at each level starting at Level 2 and progressing to Level 5. It focuses on the understanding of what multiplication is, developing the concept of multiplication being repeated addition by building up the underpinning skills of grouping and counting on in. Progression Workbook Time - This 120 page workbook looks at the progression of understanding ‘time’ from the Foundations Level up to Level 4. There are example questions at each level. There is a series of 12 blank templates at the end. [Eco Ink Version]
